Tree Watch ’04

Journal entry, Day 2:
The tree remains standing, as do all originally hung ornaments. Some ornaments have had to be ‘re-hung’ a number of times due to ‘spontaneous removal’. New development from christmas tree presence: Stella’s enhanced vocabulary.

Example:

Stella approaches tree and puts hand out towards shiny gold and red christmas ornaments.

Parent: Stella!….. (in stern voice)
Stella responds: No-no-no-no

didn’t take long.

Q: Who weighs 25lbs and has (another) ear infection?

A: Stella!

Yes folks, that is right — her fighting weight is now at a generous (but as the doctor put it, “not chubby”) 25 big ones. This must now qualify her for the ‘Micro-Featherweight’ category.

Ear infections be damned. This might be a holdover from the last one. We had some logistical problems with the last round of antibiotics. Read: someone — who will remain nameless — insisted on spitting them out when administered, leaving us without the proper amount to go for the entire 5 day protocol. Whatever the cause, it is in the same ear as always (her right one). Hoping that this is the last of it.

Pure Bathroom Genius!

Okay, once was beginners luck, but twice — that’s just pure genious. Stella will surely hate us for this later, but as good parents we just can’t let this one go by without sharing it with those who love her so. She has now used the big girl potty twice (yes, that’s #1 & #2!!). The no pressure “lets hang out and read” approach is proving to be a winner. Walking, pooping and peeing in the big girl potty all in one week. Who could ask for more?
